Weekly Wager: Week 4

Nebraska (+9.5) @ Wisconsin - SAT 8:00PM - ABC
Nebraska's first Big Ten Conference will not treat them nicely. The Cornhuskers will be no match for the Badgers in Camp Randall Stadium on Saturday night.  Russell Wilson is proving to be the missing piece for Wisconsin's office which is averaging 48.5 points per game and over 530 yards of total offense per game.  Nebraska's D-Line has struggled in particular so expect Montee Ball and James White to keep trucking and improve on their 245 yards per game.  The Badgers are 45-4 at home since 2004, don't look for this to be their 5th loss.  Oh yea, the Badgers are 10-0-1 ATS in their last 11 games.....Wisconsin 38, Nebraska 24

Carolina (+7.5) @ Chicago - SUN 1:00PM
After a couple tough matchups against the Saints and Packers, Chicago will rebound against the Panthers.  Cam Newton will look to use the TEs, which the Packers did successfully against the Bears, but Chicago's defense will be all over Greg Olsen and Jeremy Shockey causing Cammy Cam problems all afternoon.

Week 3: Midweek Roundup

Lots of injuries this week, but there are some undervalued pick ups on the waiver wire for those that need roster replacements.  Read on...

PHI - No update on QB Michael Vick
Source: Philadelphia Daily News - Les Bowen
The Philadelphia Eagles will not have an update on the condition of QB Michael Vick (concussion) until Wednesday, Sept. 21. The team is expected to get Vick in for an MRI and concussion testing as soon as possible.

To be safe, it's probably best to plan on not having Vick this week if you own him. At least until we know a little more. Mike Kafka might be a very nice start vs. the Giants defense that looked lost at times vs. Sam Bradford on Monday night.

HOU - RB Arian Foster to be re-evaluated Wednesday
Source: The Associated Press
Houston Texans RB Arian Foster (hamstring) did not work with the team Monday, Sept. 19, and will be re-evaluated Wednesday, Sept. 21. 'He (Foster) is a little sore today,' Kubiak said Monday. 'I think it is a going to be a process with Arian working himself back to full speed and carrying the full load. I think (Sunday) was a step in the process and we'll see where we're at Wednesday.'

That's not that encouraging if you own Foster. He might be a 'leave on the bench until he gives you a reason to start him' guy right now.

Brian Urlacher Returns to Chicago

Brian Urlacher Returns

Atlanta Falcons v Chicago Bears

Urlacher is back in Halas hall Thursday morning after absence due to his mother's death.  He hasn't announced whether or not he will face the Saints on Sunday, but I think it's a safe bet he'll be on the field.

I'm sure this is a huge sigh of relief to Bears fans everywhere.

Weekly Wager

If I was a betting woman...

LSU (-3) @ Mississippi St - THU 8:00PM - ESPN
Mississippi has averaged 325 yds rushing in their first 2 games, and I like what I saw in the game against Auburn last week.  As with all SEC games though, this one will be a defensive struggle with turnovers being the decisive factor.  LSU rolled through their first 2 weeks (impressive win against the Oregon Ducks), but I think they fall short tonight in the hostile environment.  Home field, classes cancelled for the game, Thursday night, the fans are ready. Bulldogs are looking for an upset early on in the SEC.  LSU 24, Mississippi St 27

Philadelphia Eagles (-1.5) @ Atlanta Falcons - SUN 8:20PM - CBS
It's hard to bet against the Eagles the way they're playing right now, but at the same time Falcons are looking to redeem themselves after the embarrassing, turnover ridden performance in Chicago last week. Matt Ryan is back in a Dome this week, but he will be facing just as many issues with Asomugha, Samuel and Rodgers-Cromartie covering the backfield.

Thursday Updates

Happy Thursday Jerzday folks. Or does anyone out there still watch that train wreck on MTV these days?  (we still do.)

Anyways, here are your morning updates:

HOU - RB Arian Foster practices Wednesday
Source: HoustonTexans.com - Nick Scurfield
Houston Texans RB Arian Foster (hamstring) participated in practice Wednesday, Sept. 14, and took a normal number of reps for a starter.

It looks like Foster may be back in the lineup this week. This will hurt the value of Ben Tate and Derrick Ward going forward.

Urlacher's Mother Passes

The mother of Brian Urlacher died suddenly at her home on Monday. She was 51 years old. Our prayers are with Brian and his family at this time.

No updates on when Urlacher will return to the Bears at this time.

Janikowski & Tom Brady

Probably the first and last time you will see a kicker receive the same accolade as Tom Brady:

Week1: Midweek Roundup

Ok - So I get updates every morning on what's going on across the NFL. Narrowing it down to the most important headlines (In my opinon) here. Hope it helps ya'll with your Fantasy lineups this week!

CIN - Andy Dalton sees specialist
Source: The Associated Press - Joe Kay
Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton (forearm) was scheduled to visit with a specialist Monday, Sept. 12, and the team is hoping he can make the start in Week 2 against the Denver Broncos.

There seems to be some concern whether Dalton will be able to go this week. We'll know a lot more as the week goes on. If he does play, the Broncos defense may not be a favorable matchup for Dalton and the Bengals. Against the Denver defense RB Cedric Benson should be more of a factor.

SD - RB Mike Tolbert expected to practice, play in Week 2
Source: The San Diego Union-Tribune - Kevin Acee
Updating a previous report, San Diego Chargers RB Mike Tolbert (knee) was declared healthy after tests by doctors Monday, Sept. 12. Tolbert is expected to practice this week, and play in Week 2 against the New England Patriots.

Poppin the Cherry
