Thursday Updates

Happy Thursday Jerzday folks. Or does anyone out there still watch that train wreck on MTV these days?  (we still do.)

Anyways, here are your morning updates:

HOU - RB Arian Foster practices Wednesday
Source: HoustonTexans.com - Nick Scurfield
Houston Texans RB Arian Foster (hamstring) participated in practice Wednesday, Sept. 14, and took a normal number of reps for a starter.

It looks like Foster may be back in the lineup this week. This will hurt the value of Ben Tate and Derrick Ward going forward.

BAL - WR Lee Evans back in walking boot
Source: Carroll County Times - Aaron Wilson
Baltimore Ravens WR Lee Evans (foot) is not participating in practice Wednesday, Sept. 14, and is wearing a walking boot on his left foot.

Without Evans in the lineup the team could look to their TEs Ed Dickson and Dennis Pitta more.

DET - WR Calvin Johnson getting treatment for injured ankle
Source: The Detroit News - Chris McCosky
Detroit Lions WR Calvin Johnson (ankle) is getting daily treatment on an ankle injury he suffered in Week 1 but expects to be ready to play in Week 2.

This ankle injury isn't considered severe and Johnson should be able to put up big numbers against KC this week.

IND - QB Peyton Manning will stay on roster until ruled out
Source: Colts.com
Indianapolis Colts president Bill Polian said QB Peyton Manning (neck) will remain on the 53-man roster until the doctors rule him out for the season. Polian said even though Manning has a chance to return this season, he will not be used until he is 100 percent healthy. Polian said the team has done the same strategy with other players in the past.

Just because the Colts are keeping him on the roster doesn't mean you guys should.  Dynasty owners can obviously keep him around, but in redraft leagues with limited rosters just cut him and move on. We think the chances of Manning coming back would be helped if the Colts were going to be in contention near the end of the season. After one week it's apparent they're going to be in the running for a top 5 draft pick.

NO - WR Marques Colston has plate inserted
Source: New Orleans Times-Picayune - Jeff Duncan
New Orleans Saints WR Marques Colston (collarbone) said Wednesday, Sept. 14, that he had a plate inserted into his collarbone, and he is expected to miss four weeks. Colston's tentative return date is Week 6.

Colston owners should be adding Robert Meachem or Devery Henderson to pick up the slack while he is out.

OAK - WR Jacoby Ford uncertain for Week 2
Source: San Francisco Chronicle - Vittorio Tafur
Oakland Raiders WR Jacoby Ford (hamstring) is uncertain for Week 2 against the Buffalo Bills after suffering a hamstring injury in Week 1.

Ford is a speed merchant, so anything that would slow him down would make him much less attractive as a fantasy start.

IND - WR Reggie Wayne misses practice
Source: KFFL.com
Indianapolis Colts WR Reggie Wayne (rest) did not practice Wednesday, Sept. 14.

Wayne has a tough matchup this week against Browns CB Joe Haden. Wayne scored some fantasy points in garbage time but will likely be an inconsistent fantasy start with Collins under center.

CHI - WR Roy Williams uncertain for Week 2
Source: Chicago Tribune - Brad Biggs and Vaughn McClure
Chicago Bears WR Roy Williams’ (groin) status for Week 2 is uncertain because of a groin injury he suffered in Week 1.

The Bears will turn to Johnny Knox as a starting WR opposite Devin Hester if Williams can't play.  Devin Hester is a solid choice for a WR3 as you get points for kick off and punt returns as well.
